Beak Trimming
Over time, a tortoise's beak can become overgrown if it isn't naturally worn down through normal feeding and chewing. Providing calcium blocks, cuttlefish bone and a varied diet containing tougher foods can help keep the beak in good condition.
If you're unsure whether your tortoise's beak needs trimming, bring them in for a free assessment. If trimming is required, we can carry this out for £5.00 per tortoise.
Please note that not all beaks can be safely trimmed in-store. If your tortoise is unwilling to cooperate, becomes excessively stressed, or we feel trimming cannot be carried out safely, we will stop the procedure and may recommend that you seek treatment from a specialist reptile veterinarian.
Appointments are required and animals must be securely transported in a carrier.

1. Appointments
Beak trimming is by appointment only and is carried out by trained members of the KBN Reptiles team.
2. Assessment
Every tortoise will receive a free assessment before trimming. If we feel trimming is unnecessary or unsuitable, we will advise accordingly.
3. Animal Welfare
The welfare of your tortoise is our priority. If your tortoise becomes excessively stressed, refuses to cooperate, or we believe the procedure cannot be completed safely, we reserve the right to stop or refuse treatment.
4. Veterinary Referral
Some overgrown beaks require veterinary treatment rather than routine trimming. If we believe this is the case, we will recommend that you consult a specialist reptile veterinarian.
5. Owner Responsibility
Owners must inform us of any known health conditions or behavioural concerns that may affect the safe handling of their tortoise.
6. Liability
Whilst every reasonable care is taken, KBN Reptiles cannot accept liability for complications arising from pre-existing health conditions or where veterinary treatment is recommended but declined.
