In the UK, you must be 16 years of age or older to purchase an animal from a pet shop.
If you live with your parents, guardians or housemates, we strongly recommend discussing your decision with them first to ensure everyone is happy for the animal to be kept in the home.
If you rent your home or live in shared accommodation, please check your tenancy agreement or obtain permission from your landlord or homeowner before purchasing a pet.
Our priority is to ensure every animal goes to a suitable, permanent home where it can receive the care it needs.
Frequently Asked Questions About Our Animals
-
No. We do not sell wild-caught animals at KBN Reptiles.
We believe in responsible and ethical reptile keeping and carefully source our animals from trusted breeders and suppliers, as well as breeding many species ourselves. Wherever possible, we want to know the history and origin of the animals in our care. -
Yes! We have our own breeding programme here at KBN Reptiles and breed a variety of animals ourselves.
We specialise in several species of ratsnake, including Dione’s Ratsnakes, Russian Ratsnakes, Rhino Ratsnakes, Vietnamese Blue Beauty Ratsnakes and Mandarin Ratsnakes, along with many others. We also breed selected species of lizards and tarantulas.
Where an animal has been bred here at KBN Reptiles, we’ll let you know, so you can learn more about its background and sometimes even meet their parents!
-
Choosing your first reptile is exciting, but the best species for one person may not be the best choice for another. Before deciding, it's worth thinking about a few questions:
Would you like a pet that enjoys being handled?
Would you prefer a species that's active during the day or at night?
How much time can you dedicate to its care?
How much space do you have for an enclosure?
The size of the enclosure you can comfortably accommodate is often one of the biggest factors in choosing the right species. We'll help you find a reptile that suits both your lifestyle and the space you have available.
The best place to start is by visiting us in store. You can meet a variety of reptiles, ask as many questions as you like, and take home care guides to help with your research. We'll never pressure you into making a purchase—we're here to help you find the right pet when you're ready.
-
Absolutely! Reptiles can make fascinating and rewarding family pets, helping children learn about responsibility, nature and animal care. However, an adult must always take responsibility for the animal's daily care, including maintaining the correct heating and lighting, providing the appropriate diet, monitoring its health and ensuring the enclosure is cleaned regularly.
Children should always be supervised when handling reptiles, and any interaction should be appropriate for both the child and the animal.
If you're looking for a reptile for your family, we'd be happy to help you choose a species that suits your experience, lifestyle and the age of your children.
-
We've created a growing library of free care guides to help you provide the very best care for your Reptile. Our guides cover everything from choosing the right enclosure to heating, lighting, substrate, diet, supplementation, handling, breeding and general day-to-day care.
Visit our KBN Reptiles Learning Hub for more information.
Our team is always happy to offer advice and help you give your pet the best possible care.
-
Yes, we can arrange for reptiles to be transported by a specialist licensed animal courier. The courier must be arranged by the customer, but we're happy to provide advice and help you through the process. Please contact us for more information before making arrangements.
Unfortunately, we do not offer courier services for invertebrates, and these must be collected from our shop.
We will only release animals for transport if we are satisfied that suitable courier arrangements have been made and weather conditions are appropriate for the animal's welfare.
Frequently Asked Questions Holiday Boarding
-
We currently offer holiday boarding for tortoises, lizards, snakes, tarantulas, spiders, scorpions and mantises.
If you're unsure whether we can accommodate your pet, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We'll be happy to discuss your requirements and let you know if we can help.
What should I bring with my reptile?
In most cases, you only need to bring your pet, as we'll provide everything else they need during their stay. If your animal is on a special diet or has a favourite hide or other familiar item, you're welcome to bring these with them. If you're unsure what to bring, just get in touch and we'll be happy to help.
-
We recommend booking your holiday boarding as soon as you know your travel dates. Boarding spaces are limited, and during busy periods such as school holidays and summer, we can be fully booked over a year in advance. Booking early gives you the best chance of securing a space for your pet.
-
We understand that unexpected delays can happen. If you're unable to collect your pet as planned, please let us know as soon as possible. We'll do everything we can to accommodate you and ensure your pet continues to receive the care they need until you're able to collect them.
