KBN Reptiles was founded with one simple mission: to educate people about the fascinating world of reptiles and challenge the many misconceptions surrounding them.

The journey began in 2010, when Katie, Brian and Nathan entered a competition run by Coventry City Council, offering aspiring young entrepreneurs the chance to win a retail business package. While deciding on a name, they combined their initials to create KBN Reptiles – a name that has proudly remained ever since.

Although they didn't win the competition, Coventry City Council recognised their ambition and offered them retail premises. Without hesitation, they accepted the opportunity and, on 5th March 2011, KBN Reptiles opened its doors for the very first time.

As with any small business, the years that followed brought many changes. Brian and Nathan moved on shortly after the shop opened, while Katie continued to grow the business. In 2014, Kane joined KBN as a partner after relocating from Sheffield, helping the business continue to expand before stepping away in 2026 to pursue a career in games development.

One of the biggest milestones came in 2022, when Coventry City Council confirmed the redevelopment of the city centre, meaning KBN's original premises would be demolished. Faced with the challenge of relocating, the team found a new home just two miles away. After two months of hard work transforming the building into the shop they had always envisioned, the new KBN Reptiles officially opened on 16th May 2022.

Since opening in 2011, KBN Reptiles has continued to grow from a small independent reptile shop into one of the region's leading specialist reptile stores. Today, alongside a carefully selected range of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates, the business operates an extensive captive breeding programme, offers a wide range of specialist services, and remains committed to providing honest advice, high welfare standards and ongoing support to reptile keepers of all experience levels.

More than anything, our goal remains exactly the same as it was in 2010: to help reptiles thrive by educating and supporting the people who care for them.
